What were your parents doing at your age?

When my parents were my age they were both experiencing ill health. My dad was a drinker and a smoker. My mom had to retire from nursing because she had broken her hip in an attempt to home accident.

When my brother was murdered in 1989, she started to go down hill. It was hard for her to bury a child.

In my mom’s early Sixties she went through open heart surgery. She made it through. My dad had bladder cancer in his early sixties.

Both my parents died within 18 months of each other. My mom died first. I was devastated because we would talk every day. I miss that to this day.
