Food costs were way down. A new house was $13,500. New car was $2900. A gallon of gas was 32 cents a gallon. Movie tickets were 69 cents. A postage stamp was four cents. Milk was fifty cents. A dozen eggs were eighty-nine cents.
Favorite books were “One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “A Wrinkle in Time”.
The first Walmart store opens to the public.
