When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

I still do not feel like a grown up. Well, only when my joints are snap, crackle and popping.

I had to grow up in a hurry back in the day. I was the oldest of four children. I had brothers, no sisters. By 10 years old I was taught to cook, clean the house, doing the laundry, and ironing. We had no washer or dryer. We used the bathtub and hung the clothes out to dry outside. It was a lot.

I was taught early because my mother worked late at night as a nurse in a local nursing home. She slept during the day. So after I got home from school, I would help with snacks for my younger brothers. I would do some cleaning and help with preparing supper.

When I got older I was always the helper. I looked after other people. I made sure everyone had what they needed.

Have a blessed day ❤️✌️🙏
